Revs Add Franco Amid Flurry of Roster Moves

The Revs have signed power-hitting corner infielder Carlos Franco, a Triple-A All-Star in the Atlanta Braves system last year.  He will make his debut for the Revs tonight vs. High Point.  York has also released pitchers Josh Glick, Jeffrey Rosa, and Jarret Martin along with infielder Nate Coronado.  Read the full bio on Franco as well as all of the other notes for tonight’s matchup in tonight’s official game notes: 6-12-19 vs HP

Walby added to start game one of doubleheader

The Revs have signed former San Diego State Aztec Phil Walby who has spent his career in the Yankees, Nationals, and Blue Jays farm systems. Walby has been a reliever throughout his career, but will get the start in game one of tonight’s doubleheader vs. High Point. Revs Sign Rondon

A couple of roster moves today as RHP Matthew Grimes had his contract purchased by the Chinese Professional Baseball League (Taiwan) which means Ian Thomas will make tonight’s start, and the Revs have signed infielder Alvaro Rondon.  The 28-year-old Rondon began this season with Sugar Land, where he batted .281 last season with 38 stolen bases (#3 in the league) and a league-leading 13 sac bunts. He was also the Skeeters’ Community Player of the Year last season. He had a 60-steal season in the American Association in 2017 and reached Triple-A in the Diamondbacks farm system. Primarily a middle infielder throughout his career, the switch-hitting Rondon is leading off and playing shortstop tonight as the Revs host the High Point Rockers. Duke of York: von Schamann added to pitching staff

The Revs have added RHP Duke von Schamann who will start Sunday’s game vs. Lancaster. von Schamann was acquired in a trade from Gary SouthShore of the American Association and has been added to the active roster. We’ll have more on the righty in Sunday’s game notes, but the 6’5 Tulsa, OK native was a 15th round pick of the Dodgers in 2012 out of Texas Tech and has pitched in both the Dodgers and Indians farm systems, reaching Triple-A. He is 45-38 with a 4.28 ERA in his seven-year pro career, mostly all as a starter, and has averaged just 2.0 walks per 9 innings. The 27-year-old was 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 8 starts for Joliet of the Frontier League last season. Now for tonight’s opener against the Barnstormers, here are the game notes: 5-23-19 vs SMD
