McCoy Joins Revs Pitching Staff
The York Revolution announced the signing of LHP Pat McCoy on Friday morning. McCoy arrived in York the day before and made his signing official in time to join the team on its weekend trip to New Britain.
The 29-year-old gives the Revs another pitcher with MLB experience, as the 6’4 southpaw owned a 3.86 ERA in 14 relief outings for the Detroit Tigers in 2014. A native of Tucson, AZ, McCoy was originally a 10th-round draft pick of the Washington Nationals out of Sahuaro High School in 2007, and advanced to Triple-A as a reliever in the Nationals farm system after spending his first couple of pro seasons in a starter’s role. McCoy has also spent time at the Triple-A level in the Orioles, Rockies, and Blue Jays organizations. His first Atlantic League action came last season with Southern Maryland, where he was 2-5 with a 4.76 ERA in 11 starts. McCoy pitched for Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League, going 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA in 16 relief appearances, and had initially agreed to terms with the Revs during the winter before beginning the 2018 season in the Mexican League.
