Ruddy Yan released
It’s a shame when a fan favorite is released, but the Revolution and outfielder Ruddy Yan have parted ways. There probably isn’t a better-liked guy in the clubhouse, or in the league for that matter, and Yan’s enthusiasm is infectious; but at the end of the day it just became too tough for Mark Mason to get Yan into ballgames. In a pennant race, and with an already crowded outfield group, Yan became expendable as the club will look to add another starting pitcher this week, to be announced.
A season ago, Yan was pressed from backup into a more everyday role, and batted a respectable .242 in 115 games with 44 RBI. His defense remains excellent, so he very well could surface elsewhere in the Atlantic League or another league shortly. 2014 is Yan’s 15th professional season at age 33. He ended up 2-for-23 with an RBI in just 10 games with York this season.
