Revolution sign former Orioles farmhand Rick Zagone to start
It took a while for the Revolution to replace Matt Fox in the starting rotation after his contract was purchased by the New York Mets on May 14. But the bullpen will finally be given a reprieve every fifth day with the signing of lefty Rick Zagone.
Zagone began the year in spring training with the Orioles, after spending last season split between three levels; Triple-A Norfolk, Double-A Bowie and High-A Frederick. Zagone’s career numbers are solid in 123 games and 107 starts; he was 39-33 upon joining York, with a 3.94 ERA in five professional seasons. The Chicago-area native pitched collegiately at the University of Missouri from 2005-2008, before Baltimore made him their sixth round pick (176th overall) in the 2008 draft.
As you can see from the photo, it’s fun to watch Zagone throw. That’s a healthy leg-kick.
