Monday Roundup from Spring Training and Another Expansion Plan Unveiled

It’s been a busy Monday here at Sovereign Bank Stadium, with team headshots and the first full-team workout now complete.  All but three players have arrived, as Brett Tomko and Juan Rincon are both due in tomorrow, and Pedro Liriano hopefully by Wednesday. Here are some photos from the day after the jump.

The talk around the clubhouse today was about Jeff Fiorentino, who has added about 30 pounds of muscle since last season.

And by 2015, the Atlantic League could be expanding to Virginia Beach.

We’ll have more here tomorrow, as Paul and I will be blogging from Citizens Bank Park after we meet up with Scott Rice, as the Mets are in Philly this week.

Anyone know what’s happening in the terms of future westward expansion? It was my understanding that Sugarland was supposed to be the beginning of a western division.

    • The Atlantic League is continuing to pursue markets out west. It can be a slow moving process. Sugar Land won’t be out there by themselves forever.
