Revolution attendance up from last year, set four-game record over the weekend

The final numbers are in after a much anticipated weekend at Sovereign Bank Stadium.  Not only did the York Revolution sweep the Somerset Patriots in four games clinching their third consecutive playoff berth, moving to 75-59 on the season, but the organization also set a new four-game attendance record.

21,759 fans came through the Sovereign Bank Stadium gates between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, with a day-night double-header on Saturday.  That surpassed the mark of 21,421 during a four-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers from September 10-12, 2010.  The 6,848 fans who attended the game on Saturday night marked the eighth largest crowd in Sovereign Bank Stadium history.

The final numbers for the regular season show the Revolution drew 273,648 fans this season, an increase of 12,058 from 261,590 from last season.  The per-game average also grew in 2012, with an average crowd of 4,084, compared to 3,904 fans per game in 2011.  The Revolution has now drawn 1.6 million fans to Sovereign Bank Stadium during the six seasons the stadium has been open.

“With the tremendous amount of tickets our fans purchased in advance of these games, we recognized an all-time weekend was in sight,” said Revolution President & General Manager Eric Menzer.  “Revolution fans never disappoint and their response to get this done was even beyond our already high expectations.  Now, we’re focused on packing this place for the playoffs, and I know Revs fans will help us do it again.”

As York nears closer to a post-season rematch with Lancaster, the Revolution has now won five in a row, eight of their last nine, 11 of their last 13, and 15 of their last 18 home games.  The Revolution is 14-4 in their last 18 games overall.  Winners of the previous two Atlantic League Championships, no team has ever won three in a row.  York is attempting to be the first.

Playoff tickets are now on sale at, by calling 717-801-HITS or in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
